It’s 2017 and the year of exciting reveals! Soo much awesomeness to be seen in terms of style and Wazal Couture’s French/Cameroonian creator, Joseph Marie Ayissi Nga promises this and more with his 2016/2017 collection – “Ova tete”
Joseph Ayissi, CEO of the Wazal Brand and nominee for BEFFTA 2016’s “Best Male Fashion Designer”, is a fashion designer who creates very chic street wear and he had this to say about his latest collection – “Ova tete”
“This collection is inspired by a Cameroonian slang ‘Ova’ which means bigger and noble person. ‘Tété’ which refers to chic and bourgeois. In addition, the word chic here is used to describe the amazing and modern appearance of the clothing. Therefore, those who have good taste and know how to dress well are characterized as chic.
Noble and quality materials were used in this collection, including first choice wax (African print) from Senegal or Mali.
I will say this collection is indecent, 10 years in advance or shameless 5 years in advance. I prefer being ahead because the fashion world is in constant evolution.”

The Wazal brand was launched in 2005 and in 2006, Joseph Ayissi launched his first designs. ‘WAZAL’, which is a blend of “WAZA” – the name of a natural park in the extreme north of Cameroon and the letter “L” – connoting “Lion”; comes together as “Respect” and “Power”. Some Wazal designs have been worn by the likes of celebrities like SINGUILA, Alpeco, Wayne Beckford, Romaric Koffi and Lalcko.
We definitely will have our eyes on Wazal this year! *Smiles*
